Navarasa, a ballet
presented by Soundarya Natya Kalalaya at Indian
Fine Arts Society, German Hall was a commendable
performance. The entire program was confined to
the depiction of the nine moods, all well depicted
and brought out the best in the dancer. |
Gayatri, a dedicated
disciple of Padmini Radhakrishnan, performed for
Kapali Fine Arts for the Music and Dance Art Festival.
Fluid movements marked the invocation number and
she proceeded to render other numbers with freshness
and novelty. Gayatri has Laya command not only of
the outer language of “Nritta” but more
importantly on its inner dynamics. Her mastery of
abhinaya, bhakthi bhava, korvais, araimandi and
fine posture were exceptionally good. |
Gayatri’s
performance for “Kala Sandesam” in Chennai
was a notable one. The jathis, sancharis and footwork
was very well rendered and equally the expressions
in her eyes spoke of the emotion she was trying
to portray. Her Thillana in kaanada ragam was the
grand finale which had scintillating footwork and
brisk movements that left the audience spell-bound. |
